Committees
The driving force behind the Central Connecticut Chambers of Commerce’s success is our committees. They spearhead the Chambers’ programs, coordinate many of the Chambers’ activities, organize volunteer efforts, sponsor seminars and workshops, and promote positive interaction among members.
Beautification Committee
The Beautification Committee works tirelessly to help keep Bristol and the surrounding towns beautiful. The Committee helps to run the annual Pequabuck River Duck Race, whose proceeds are split between the Chamber and our Duck Race Community Partners to be used for beautification efforts.
Some other Beautification Committee projects are purchasing and installing holiday lights around town, and sponsoring welcome to Bristol signs.
Regional Economic Development Committee
The Regional Economic Development Committee exists to support and promote the Central CT region, specifically Bristol, Burlington, Farmington, Plymouth and Wolcott. We work with our local Economic Development Commissions for our municipalities (EDC) to attract new businesses to the regional and to retain our vibrant business community. The Regional Economic Development Committee is a powerful voice in promoting the region and ensuring that the Central CT region continues to grow and thrive.
Events Committee
The numerous events put on by the Chamber would not be possible without the committee member volunteers who help Chamber staff to plan and carryout these gatherings. Some of the Chamber events backed by committees are the Home & Business Expo, the Annual Dinners for each chamber, the Pequabuck River Duck Race, the Annual Golf Tournaments, and the Children’s Holiday Festival. Joining one of these committees is a great way to stay involved with the Chamber while helping to shape our important events.
Regional Legislative Action Committee
The Regional Legislative Action Committee sets the Legislative agenda for the Central CT Chambers of Commerce and works closely with our elected officials at the Local, State and Federal level to ensure that our elected official are focused on public policy initiative that support business growth and retention. We are a bi-partisan group of business leaders and we host several events during the year, bringing our elected officials face to face with our business community and ensuring that our collective voices are heard.
Manufacturing Committee
Manufacturing has been the backbone of Central Connecticut's economy for over 200 years. The Chambers'Manufacturing Committee's focus is on improving the business climate for area manufacturers.
We continue to increase elected officials' knowledge of manufacturing's needs and problems and help provide a pool of good, skilled people willing to work in industry by providing tours of local industries with elected officials and field trips to area manufacturers to exhibit available employment opportunities for junior high and high school students.
