CTMA
The Connecticut Tooling & Machining Association (CTMA), a local chapter of the National Tooling & Machining Assocation (NTMA), has been one of the leading manufacturing trade associations in the state since 1943. Our mission is to lead the membership toward superior competitiveness and profitability by being the total resource for information, education, training and association services for the innovative tooling and machining company. The CTMA was born out of a necessity for industry representation when dealing with the government. To this day the association’s top priorities remain Government Relations and Workforce Development.
We currently represent over 50 member companies and with a continuously growing member base CTMA creates fantastic networking opportunities at our monthly member meetings. Monthly member meetings range from roundtables, plant tours, lunch-and-learns that revolve around hot topics in the industry, golf outings, social events and much more!
Joining the CTMA comes with a host of additional benefits, including discounts from companies like Grainger, Staples, Avis, Budget and others. Becoming a member also means deep discounts on shipping costs through PartnerShip. Additionally, there are many business resource benefits to take advantage of such as energy discounts through APPI, an energy resource company that helps find the best rates and contract lengths to benefit your business.
One of the biggest benefits is delivered by our endorsed insurance sponsor, Smith Brothers Insurance, which offers members only discounts on their Total Asset Protection Plans. These plans not only include commercial insurance, personal insurance, surety, and bonding but also financial, estate, and succession planning that is crucial to the longevity of your business. Our partners at Smith also provide employee benefits, many of which are available just for being a member of CTMA, such as identity protection, college tuition savings plans and wellness cards. Smith Brothers is an industry leader in risk management, helping to create programs to limit the risk of injury in your facility and ultimately helping to drive down insurance premiums.
With workforce development a top priority, a great source of pride for the association and its Board members is NTMA-U. NTMA-U is an accredited online apprenticeship program and is the only nationally recognized Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training / DOL program in the United States. NTMA-U is also NIMS (National Institute of Metalworking Skills) outcome tracked, with course materials meeting the requirements for NIMS Certification. NTMA-U is only offered to members of the NTMA and its local chapters and as a member of the Connecticut Chapter (CTMA) you can save up to 50% on ANY and EVERY skill module in the course book. NTMA-U is a great way to train new employees, and can also sharpen a current employee’s skillset.
